Digital Psychological Counseling at the University: Theoretical Foundations and Professional Challenges
Abstract
This study explores digital psychological counseling in the university context, with a focus on its theoretical foundations and professional challenges. It examines the conceptual basis of digital counseling, its relevance to the university environment, and the main justifications for its use in supporting students’ mental health. The study also highlights key professional and ethical challenges, including digital competence, confidentiality, informed consent, and crisis management. It concludes that digital psychological counseling can enrich university counseling services when it is institutionally organized, professionally supervised, and adapted to the cultural and educational context of Arab universities.
