Abstract

The rapid proliferation of smartphones has transformed communication, education, entertainment, and access to information, making these devices an indispensable part of everyday life. Despite their numerous benefits, excessive smartphone use has emerged as a growing behavioral concern, particularly among adolescents and young adults. Smartphone addiction is characterized by compulsive and excessive smartphone use that interferes with daily functioning, emotional well-being, and healthy lifestyle habits. One of the most significant consequences of this behavioral pattern is poor sleep quality, which has substantial implications for psychological health, cognitive functioning, and academic performance. the relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep quality from a psychological perspective by exploring how excessive smartphone use influences sleep patterns, emotional well-being, and overall mental health. A quantitative research design is proposed using a structured questionnaire to assess smartphone addiction, sleep quality, and selected psychological variables among adolescents and young adults. Standardized measurement instruments may be employed to evaluate the frequency and intensity of smartphone use, sleep duration, sleep disturbances, daytime dysfunction, and psychological well-being. The collected data can be analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression techniques to determine the extent to which smartphone addiction predicts poor sleep quality and associated psychological outcomes.
