Abstract

It protects the environment, supports cultural balance, and helps preserve the natural, economic, social, and urban resources of tourist destinations. It also constitutes an important means of developing regions with economic, social, and urban appeal, particularly where tourism resources are planned and utilised rationally to improve local standards of living while limiting environmental pollution. The close relationship between tourism and sustainable development, together with the need to preserve the natural resources on which the tourism industry depends, has encouraged countries to pursue sustainable tourism development that generates broad social benefits and contributes to reducing unemployment.
