Abstract

Significant morbidity and impairment are caused by anxiety and depression, two of the most frequent mental health diseases globally. While many people do well with traditional therapies like medicine and psychotherapy, these methods aren't always the best fit and can have unwanted side effects. Acupressure is one of the complementary and alternative medicine practices that is gaining popularity as a potential non-invasive, side-effect-free approach for treating certain diseases. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the foundation of acupressure, a technique that uses manual pressure on certain areas of the body to alleviate pain and stress and stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms. how acupressure can help with sadness and anxiety, specifically how it can reduce symptoms and boost mental health in general. research on the effects of acupressure on anxiety and depression, focussing on how it affects physiological markers including heart rate, cortisol levels, and muscle tension in controlled clinical settings. acupressure's potential benefits include promoting relaxation, increasing endorphin release, and regulating the autonomic nervous system. The evaluation also considers acupressure as a complementary modality to more traditional forms of treatment for mental health issues including anxiety and depression. Lastly, this study concludes with some suggestions for further research on the therapeutic potential of acupressure in the field of mental health care.
